About John R. Puskar, P.E.

Mr. Puskar is a licensed professional engineer passionate about saving lives and preventing fires and explosions.

Mr. Puskar holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Youngstown State University, and an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Puskar is a licensed processional engineer in Ohio and a number of other states. He also holds 5 State of Ohio contractor licenses. Mr. Puskar was a Senior Energy Systems Engineer in the corporate headquarters of Standard Oil of Ohio performing energy related projects at refineries and chemical plants before forming his own firm CEC Consultants in 1984. The firm focused on industrial fuels, heat processing equipment and energy related matters. The firm later focused on safety related matters in the late 1990's. Because of the firms focus the name was changed to CEC Combustion Services to better reflect the primary mission.

Mr. Puskar served on a number of NFPA, (National Fire Protection Association) standards and codes committees including 86 (Standard for Ovens and Furnaces), 85 (Boiler Combustion Hazards Code), and 56

(Prevention of Fires and Explosions During the Cleaning and Purging of Flammable Gas Piping Systems). Mr. Puskar also served as the local Cleveland Chapter American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and on ASME's CSD-1 Code committee, (Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers).

Mr. Puskar's firm created a routinized and systematic method to provide safety audits of combustion equipment in a consistent and well documented manner. This approach allowed the firm to conduct more than 20,000 fuels and combustion equipment safety audits at more than 500 industrial plants throughout the world. The firm held corporate contracts performing these services for major industrial clients like Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Alcoa, US Steel, ConAgra Foods, Tyson Foods, Pfizer, and many many others.

In August of 2011 Mr. Puskar sold CEC Combustion Services to a major worldwide burner manufacturer who has been in business more than 100 years and has global operations, (Eclipse Combustion Inc.)

Mr. Puskar currently serves on the NFPA 56 committee (founding member) and is President of Puskar Publishing LLC and Prescient Technical Services LLC.
